Age Concern Mijas and Fuengirola
Age Concern pandemic info
Every successful Charity is a Team effort and the current pandemic has only highlighted that dedication
Age Concern Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmadena are fortunate to have a fantastic group of volunteers
They are the back bone of the Charity and enable them to fulfill their 4 core values to the people they serve
These are.....
1. The provision of Advice
2. Individual Support
3. Help - in a personalised, practical form
4. Friendship
Normally these values are achieved through their 4 social drop-in clubs and Charity shop in Los Boliches
As we all know, at the the present time all venues are temporarily closed due to the restrictions on movement
The Charity however are still working hard on behalf of their Clients
If you are in need your first port of call is their Helpline which is open 24 hours a day
Linda Ewen, Head of Welfare manages the Helpline on 652537615
The Charity are still able to take people for their medical appointments but this is currently a limited service
Similarly they continue to make regular calls to many clients to ensure they are safe and well
Loneliness and Isolation can be a problem for older people
To meet this need the Charity have launched their "buddy" calls to clients with the help of their volunteers
Although social events have been suspended the Charity have plans in place as soon as the lockdown is lifted
Would you would like to find out more about the Charity - how you can help or how they can help you?
Perhaps you would like to discuss volunteering opportunities or other ways of supporting their work?
Then please call the Helpline on 652537615 or drop them an email at ageconcernfym.com
PRESS AND PUBLICITY FOR THE CHARITY AGE CONCERN FUENGIROLA y MIJAS
AGE CONCERN MIJAS AND FUENGIROLA IS FOR EVERYONE
Age Concern Mijas and Fuengirola - We are lucky to live here in Spain
A country that is making great strides in ensuring our presence continues to be welcomed
Enabling us to sit back, relax and enjoy an enviable lifestyle
But scratch beneath this veneer and all is not quite what it seems.
In fact what we´re talking about can affect anyone at literally any age.
More potent and lethal than smoking 15 cigarettes a day
It can upset your physical and mental well being and has many names
We know it as "Loneliness and Isolation"
Sadly, it affects a large number of expats in our region of Fuengirola and Mijas
Perhaps this includes friends of yours and if it does what can you do?
Age Concern was established to provide advice, support, help and most importantly friendship.
Our clients are drawn from the over 50´s English speaking expat community, regardless of nationality
Here in Fuengirola and Mijas we currently operate 3 weekly drop-in social clubs.
We also have a Charity shop in Los Boliches that has become a hub for the local community
You will find us in c/ Francisco Cano, Los Boliches EVERY day from 10.30 - 2.00pm
Age Concern Fuengirola and Mijas are here for ALL English speaking expats
Resident or Visitor everyone is welcome
We are a "can do" Charity supported by volunteers with a "can do" approach to life
That ethos is seeing more and more people come and join our clubs - and to do so is absolutely FREE
.
We offer weekly social gatherings, monthly lunch clubs, regular outings and events throughout the year
Our trained Welfare volunteers are here to help with personalised support
We can also help with transport to a hospital appointment, your Doctor or even occasional shopping
Our Charity shop sells Quality goods at Low prices and is often the first port of call for Information
All these services and much more are made possible by our hard working dedicated volunteers
Isolation and Loneliness should not be considered fixtures in your life when you get older.
But they can become an unwelcome burden
At Age Concern there are friends waiting who you just haven´t met
Practical help if needed is provided by caring volunteers
Do pop in and see us at any one of our 3 weekly social clubs.
